Twinsburg Opens Rock the Park Concert Series

Fri 6/11

While some live summer concert series have been pared down or won’t be happening because they lacked the lead time to plan (Wade Oval Wednesdays, we miss you!), others are ramping up to give people a reason to get out and get rockin’.

Twinsburg’s Rock the Park at the Perici Amphitheatre comes back starting Friday June 11, with Escape — The Journey Tribute. Like several other series (but fortunately, not the majority), it’s headliners are mostly tribute bands. So you can spend the summer in this outdoorsy wooded environment, pretending you’re at Blossom Music Center catching Tom Petty, the Dave Matthews Band, Motley Crue or Bob Seger. One of the more interesting evenings happens on July 3 when the Cleveland Pops Orchestra plays to accompany a fireworks display (as we always have to say, “weather permitting.”) There are seven concerts in all.

In addition, they’re promising an interesting lineup of opening acts — where tribute series often manage to tuck in some local, original music. “One significant change is that opening acts will no longer be a solo singer or songwriter like we have hosted in the past,” says Rock The Park director Jennifer Betenson. “Openers will actually be full bands for 2021. Fans may recognize some familiar names like Apostle Jones, the Michael Weber Show, and Diana Chittester, but this time they will be with their full group.”

There’ll be food trucks onsite, and wine and beer available, and I’m betting they’ll set you back a lot less than at Blossom.  General admission tickets are $15; a season pass is $75. VIP tickets are also available. Go here for tickets and a full schedule.
