This Friday the Canton Museum of Art opens another group of shows to help art lovers make it through the winter.
They include Thinking with Animals, a group show featuring the diverse work of nearly 50 different artists from various backgrounds and using different techniques in expressing via ceramics what animals stand for in their opinions.
Potion Park: The Kaleidoscopic Garden of Steve Ehret and Kat Francis features mixed-media work depicting ornate fantasy landscapes. They describe it the works as “a place of beauty and wonder, appreciating all that is around us and going full on with stars in our eyes.” Right Place, Right Time: Paintings by Robert Coleman Jackson offers whimsical, brightly-colored, pop art-influenced still lives. And finally, Color Wonder from the CMA Collection is a group of paintings that looks at the way in which artists have used color. (Color Wonder will be on view through April 9.)
There will be an opening reception on Friday December 2, with snacks and sweets and a cash bar, as well as a chance to meet many of the artists and talk to the curators. Admission will be free all day and there will be extended hours from 10am-8pm that day which is Downtown Canton’s First Friday.
