Downtown Holiday Kickoff Returns with a New Name: Winterland

Sat 11/26  @ 4-7PM

Cleveland’s annual downtown holiday season kickoff event, now in its 37th year, has been renamed. No longer Winterfest, it’s now “Winterland.” But it’s the same event that has attracted thousands of people to Public Square each Saturday after Thanksgiving for the tree-lighting, fireworks and more.

Programming on decorated, lit-up Public Square, hosted by TV personality Mark Nolan, starts at 4pm with live music by theatrical soul-rockers Apostle Jones, and fireworks at 6pm. But there’ll be fun activities starting at 10am, if you want to make a day of it, including ice skating, fire pits for marshmallow roasting, appearances by Santa and other holiday characters, food trucks and more. And Cleveland Bazaar will have its local, handmade artists and artisans in the 5th Street Arcade and Tower City from 10am-7pm if you want to do some holiday shopping and keep it local. There’ll be special holiday events at surrounding businesses and institutions such as the Cleveland Public Library as well.
