Akron’s Tuesday Musical Fuze series celebrates the music of composer/conductor/pinaist Leonard Bernstein with a program featuring pianist Lara Downes, who brings her “For Lenny” program to E.J. Thomas Hall.
Downes put it together the program to celebrate the centennial of his birth last year. It includes new arrangements of his songs, his “Anniversaries for Piano, and works inspired by or dedicated to Bernstein. The program will also feature a new work by Tuesday Musical’s composer in residence Gregg Kallor called The Answer Is: Yes, which he premiered last year at the cemetery where Bernstein is buried. Its performance in Akron will feature Downes and the Miller South Dance Ensemble, a group of 17 students Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Akron.
All seating will be in the orchestra section for a more intimate show. Tickets are $40-$45.
