Sat 7/1 @ 8PM
The monthly Bainbridge Swing Dances offer people of all ages an opportunity to pick up some new steps, socialize and dance to live music by some of the region’s most exciting ensembles who play high-energy, feet-moving music in a variety of danceable and listenable genres.
This month, local dancers will get to swing to the sound of a band they might now know: the seven-piece Dr. Zoot from Pittsburgh. Together since 1998, their huge repertoire encompasses blues, R&B, jump, swing, jazz, early rock & roll, pop, funk and Latin-flavored tunes, driven by a three-piecce horn section. No one will sitting on the sidelines once they get warmed up.
These dances are all-ages events, family-friendly and welcoming to couples and singles, experienced dancers and those who THINK they have two right feet. (I’m a southpaw.)
Doors open at 7:30; at 8pm there’s a dance class, so if you’ve never done this before, you can learn the steps — friendly regulars are eager to help you out. Music starts at 9 and goes to 11pm. As for coming alone, don’t worry: it’s part of the program to change partners constantly so you’ll get to dance with everyone and mayb make some new friends.
The dances take place on the first Saturday of each month at the Family Life Center (16349 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls. Admission is $15, $10 per child or $40 per family. No registration is required. Get more information here.
