Fri 7/16 @ 5-9PM
For the second month, 78th Street’s Third Friday has expanded back to its original hours of 5-9pm, giving people who go one more hour to browse the shops, galleries and artist studios there, much needed now that most of them are open again.
And this month, for the first time since February 2020, food and drink are back in the house! Gordon Square sandwich shop Local West will have food on site, and BARneo will be in the SmARTspace with beer and wine.
Providing the live music in the smARTspace will be Janice Liu playing Chinese music on the erhu, while Victor Samalot and Kahrin Speahr will be playing in RAMP. Northcoast Promotions will have artisans and craftspeople in both spaces.
And of course art — there’ll be a lot of it. HEDGE Gallery is opening a show of new work by painter Nikki Woods and Kink Contemporary opens Akron artist Emily Olszewski’s In the Weeds, which deals with issues of mental health, sexuality, and issues within human relations. And Yellowcake Shop on the RAMP level will be showing off some new summer designs. There are even free Poetry Psychic Project Readings in Suite214.
The event is still being tickets @ $5 apiece to control the size of the crowd (although the building is huge and easy to maintain social distance if you feel more comfortable doing so)
