The gaps between the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s special festival displays are getting narrower and narrower. It seems like just yesterday the Asian Lantern Festival closed (it was actually late September) and now we’re already looking at its Wild Winter Lights event, which runs Tuesday November 16 through Sunday January 2, 2022, setting the darkest part of the year ablaze with more than one million individual lights.
After dark — which this time of year is basically when the Zoo closes anyway — the lights turn the zoo into dozens of little holiday worlds with hundreds of displays, including an Enchanted Forest, Santa’s Workshop (where kids can have their photo taken with Santa), Candyland and Conservation Trail. It’s all accompanied by a musical soundtrack featuring seasonal sounds.
At Wild Winter Lights, guests can also take carousel rides, greet costumed characters, watch model train displays and ice carvers, ooh and aah over the 50-foot tree and catch performances by choirs including the Singing Angels.
While visitors can tour the displays on foot, the Zoo is still offering drive-through options on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays for those who remain cautious. The event runs most Thursdays-Sundays. Tickets are $20 for a four-pack for $60. Children under 2 are free. Drive-through ticket are $60 per carload.
