Akron singer/songwriter/peace advocate/kirtan and meditation practitioner Zach Friedhof has never stopped moving and creating since he debuted in the local music scene in the late 90s.

When we last heard from him in early November, he was watching the early snow start to fly out in the Wyoming mountains and he had just put out his 29th album, Somewhere on a Desert Highway, featuring covers of material by one of his big inspirations, Neil Young, dedicated to one of his strongest early supporters, his late father. And he was alerting fans to the release of his 30th, a kirtan recording with the Elevate Akron Orchestra.

He performs as a solo artist, as well as with his band, the Bright Lights. He’ll be playing with them when he takes the stages as part of the Akron Rialto Theatre’s 6th Annual Holiday Show. It also features progressive folk band A Band Named Ashes, poet Keith Allison and hip hop performer/songwriter/producer Minus the Alien.
