The mission of Cleveland’s FiveOne Experimental Orchestra (51XO) is to present new contemporary work — composed by its members and incorporating jazz, world, pop and classical music — in friendly, accessible settings to expose new listeners to fresh, adventurous sounds.
“Recent events have threatened to divide our community,” says the group. “We believe music has a unique power to bring us together.”
So the ensemble is expanding its community outreach to an even more informal setting than usual: the Bottlehouse Brewery and Mead Hall in Lakewood. The group will be hanging out “improvising, sharing solo works and excerpts, cracking jokes, and creating brand new sounds in a warm space surrounded by new friends, new brews, and old comforts.”
There’s no cover and all are welcome; just drop in and meet the musicians. And the Bottlehouse will be donating the proceeds from a special drink menu to further 51XO’s work.
