Vocalist/lyricist Orlando Watson, a young Cleveland artist on the rise, earned his B.A. in communication and creative writing from Youngstown State University in 2014. By 2017 he had released his debut recording, a five-song EP titled Everything’s Personal, and opened shows for R&B artists Lalah Hathaway and Chantae Cann. He’s sung on nuerous records for other artists and worked one projects with jazz artists Terence Blanchard (the Our Voices: Democracy Revisited suite), Catskill Jazz Factory (The Spirit of Harlem), and Cleveland-born jazz trumpeter Dominick Farinacci (Modern Warrior Live). He’s also currently the associate director for Tri-C JazzFest.
He’s the next artist to be featured on Farinacci’s Songbook Watch Party series, which spotlights jazz artists from around the world and around the corner. The concert is available online to watch at home for $15. Go here to register.
