The Rockabilly Holiday, taking place at the Beachand Tavern, is a seasonal tradition that’s actually older than the Beachland, which celebrated its 16th anniversary this year. But the Rockabilly Holiday is in its 21st year.
Headliner Alan Leatherwood (pictured) has been around a lot longer than either, releasing his first record in 1963 and cycling through a lot of genres — folk, country, pop, roots rock — and even some different names, but always returning to the roots of rock. His latest album, Tex-Mex Breakaway, features a bunch of his own tunes, studded with songs by Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and even one by Buck Owens.
He’ll by joined by David Loy & the Ramrods, veterans of this event who act as Leatherwood’s backup band, and Johnny Fay & the Bel-Aires, fronted by another old-timer from the ’60s, John Furino, whose obscure tracks are highly collectible.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
