Les Delices continues its pandemic-created, listen-at-home SalonEra series, giving you a chance to get a dose of music and education on a sleepy Monday evening. Each episode has a theme and features both live and archival performances as well as background information from musicians and other experts about the music.
This episode is called “Harmonie,” and will look at what music might have sounded like on its original period instruments, a specialty of Les Delices’ musicians. The ensemble’s founder/artistic director/oboe player Debra Nagy will host the program, which will emphasize woodwinds from the classical era and feature chamber music for oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn by composers such as Mozart, Anton Reicha and Franz Krommer, played by musicians from Nagy’s “rolodex of superb musicians,” who “reflect shifting aesthetic values, experimental technologies, and newfound virtuosity.”
