Inlet Dance Theatre Kicks Off CPT’s DanceWorks with New Pieces

Thu 2/10-Sat 2/12 @ 7PM

Things are slowly starting to get back to normal with our local arts presenting groups, such as Cleveland Public Theatre, whose annual DanceWorks series returns this week in abbreviated form.

Instead of a month of both established and upcoming ensembles, it’s offering two weeks of two of the area’s best-known dance troupes: Inlet Dance Theatre this week and Verb Ballets next week. (We’re hoping the smaller ensembles are just taking a breather to regroup and aren’t gone for good.)

This weekend, Inlet Dance will present its program, “Moving Forward,” for three evenings in CPT’s James Levin Theatre. It features three new works, including “Hiding and Revealing,” based on Holocaust survivor stories, the world premiere of “Red Tape,” which looks at how bureaucracies get in the way of progress, and a newly commissioned work by Cleveland composer Ty Emerson, taken from Shakespeare’s play The Tempest to explore the topic of colonization.

As always at CPT, tickets are pay what you want, whether you order them online, on the phone or get them at the box office.
