Lakewood’s Free Front Porch Concerts Start This Week with Smith Taylor

Fri 6/3 @ 7-9PM

Summer is coming! REAL summer, not a socially distanced, events-on-Zoom summer.  Many of the free outdoor concert series we love and enjoy are starting to announce their seasons — live! In-person.

LakewoodAlive’s Front Porch Concert series, which takes place on the front steps of the Lakewood Public Library each Friday evening at 7pm through July 29, kicks off this week, with Smith Taylor, fronted by former SamFox guitarist/vocalist Braxton Marbury on guitar and vocals.

“Smith Taylor exists sonically to push black and American culture forward in direct response to the deep seeded narrative of white supremacy and the oppressive nature of capitalism,” the band’s bio says. “Smith Taylor looks to lead in advancing  the ideas of black sound and creativity, in hopes to inspire genuine thought and self-discovery.

The band released a seven-song self-titled digital album last year.

The month is filled out by singer/songwriter/performer/”professional butterfly” Raven Rae (June 10), long-running reggae ensemble Jah Messengers (June 17) and acoustic jazz/folk/reggae guitarist Pete Lazard (June 24).

The shows are free. For more info go to LakewoodAlive/FrontPorchConcerts.
