Beck Center Stages Its First Virtual, Socially Distanced Youth Production

Fri 10/23-Sun 10/25

Beck Center for the Arts’ youth theater is trying something new. Zopp is its first virtual youth production, a response to the pandemic and the necessity of social distancing. Zopp was written and directed by Russel Stich to address the issue of how to put on a show while keeping cast, crew and audience safe.

“Zopp was created around the concept of video conferencing, and due to the pandemic, we are all quite familiar with Zoom, Webex, etc.,”they tell us. “Now our host narrators and hilarious characters are ready to parody these video conference calls.”

Zopp features a cast of 34 actors ranging in age from 8 to 15, playing characters such as  Mother Goose, The Big Bad Wolf, Marco Polo and Florence Nightingale, and scores of other characters.

The show opens on Friday October 23 and runs through Sunday October 24 with a student matinee on Saturday October 24, with audience members watching the performers from their homes. Tickets are pay what you can, with a suggested donation of $20 per household.
