Standing Rock Cultural Arts and Last Exit Books, both in Kent, present the 30th annual Jawbone Open Poetry Reading, part of a weekend-long event that was hosted by poet and retired Kent professor Maj Ragain.
Sadly, Ragain died April 19, less than a week after hosting one of the Kent open poetry readings he’d been hosting for 35 years. So this year’s reading will be dedicated to him.
The event takes place at Standing Rock’s North Water Street Gallery from 11m-2pm and includes pie and coffee. It will be followed by an open reading from 2-5pm at John Brown’s Tannery Park on Summit Street. Sunday there’s a poets’ potluck in the Pavillion at Fred Fuller Park on Middlebury Road.
All events are free and open to the public.
