Growing mouth-watering vegetables, flavorful herbs and abundant flowers starts with healthy soil, as anyone who has tried growing anything in the un-amended hard clay soil we have so much of in northeast Ohio surely knows.
To help growers learn how to make their soil more productive, the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District is presenting “Healthy Soil – what is it and how do I get it?” Justin Husher, a local grower and horticulture specialist at Cuyahoga SWCD, will talk about what the components of healthy soil are, with a focus on biological activity, and what to do to improve your own soil.
The event, taking place at Cuyahoga SWCD ‘s office near AsiaTown, is free, and the first 50 people to register will get a free soil testing kit that includes testing for organic matter. Register here.
