While there have been a few holiday sales/fairs/festivals/open houses scattered through November, it’s Thanksgiving weekend when things move into high gear. It’s a good time to start thinking about gift-giving and stocking up on unique items handmade by someone local — things ranging from foods such as jams, honey and cookies, to wearable accessories, to home decor, to art pieces. We always preach about shopping local and keeping the money circulating in our own economy, and this is the time to put resources behind the talk. And Saturday November 26 IS “Small Business Saturday.” It doesn’t get smaller than an artist who’s been making distinctive items in her studio to sell at these events.
Many of the markets offer extras such as a bar, gift wrapping, entertainment or even workshops. Most are free to browse. And you’ll find them all over town. Here’s our list for this weekend:
