Downtown Kent Hosts A Lower Key Version of Its Annual Wizardly World

Mon 7/20-Sat 7/25

Wizardly Week, sponsored by Main Street Kent, is going to look a little different this year. There won’t be any large gatherings, but there’ll still be a lot of fun things going on in downtown Kent during the week of July 20-25.

More than a dozen downtown businesses will participate with wizard-themed treats and menu specials, window displays, Harry Potter and other magic-related merchandise, and wizardly tattoos and photo props, which can be enjoyed by visitors in their own time. There’ll be pop-up shops, painting classes, take-home coloring pages for kids and special drinks for mom and dad.

Also for the first time, there’s a Sorcery Stone Search, a version of the painted rock treasure hunts that have become popular in recent years. These stones have been painted with images and phrases from the Harry Potter books and hidden around downtown Kent. When you find a stone you take a photo and post it to social media with the hashtag #KentWizRocks and then hide the stone again for someone else to find. Main Street Kent will hold random drawings taken from the posts and award downtown gift cards at the end of the week.
