How to properly frame your works of art to enter them in a show or display them in a gallery (if you’re an artist) or at home (if you’re an art lover/collector) stumps many artists and collectors alike.
Luckily Artists Archives of the Western Reserve executive director Mindy Tousley, who has been a gallery owner as well, is offering to share some of her inside info. In “Conservation Framing, Parts I & II,” taking place on consecutive Saturday afternoons at AAWR, she’ll share how to frame works on paper and what materials to use to extend the life of your piece for years to come. She’ll be demonstrating mounting and how to cut mats of various thicknesses, and how to put it all together. She’ll also talk about framing canvas and textile works.
It’s recommended to sign up for both classes, although they can be taken separately. They are free, but there is a limit of 15 people so you need to register soon.
