EDWINS Holds 5K Grind to Benefit Its Programs for People Returning from Prison

Sun 10/23 @ 9AM

EDWINS, which runs a pair of restaurants on Shaker Square, a bakery and a butcher shop (both on Buckeye Road), was founded with a mission: to provide formerly incarcerated people with skills in the food business that enable them to build careers and more promising futures. It holds many fundraising events during the year, including the EDWINS 5K Grind, now in its 7th year.

The Run for Re-entry starts and ends at Shaker Square, with a diverse and challenging course that takes runners up and down hills, off-road on narrow dirt paths, on public sidewalks, through water, and past some very scenic views. “A battle between you and the terrain” they promise.

Runners will leave in groups on 25 every five minutes, starting at 10am. Packet pick-up at EDWINS Restaurant starts at 9. There’ll be awards for the top three men and top three women. You can also register for a one-mile walk if running isn’t your thing but you’d still like to help the cause.

To register go here. You can also register the day of the event.
