Philadelphia-based professional chamber choir The Crossing, led by Donald Nally, features two dozen singers performing new works designed to expand the possibilities of choral singing. In its 17 years, it’s commissioned more than 100 works, many of which deal with social, political and environmental issues. It’s earned six Grammy nominations and two Grammy awards.
Recently it commissioned a piece by Chicago-based freelance composer Stacy Garrop, honoring Shaker Heights High School director of choirs/organist Robert G. Schneider who died in 2018. It was written for choir and organ to express his twin passions.
It will debut at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium. Get tickets here.
