The Rock Hall has named its 2022 nominees. They are Beck, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, DEVO, Duran Duran, Eminem (in his first year of eligibility), Eurthymics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Dolly Parton, Rage Against the Machine, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest and Dionne Warwick. They have yet to nominate the most significant woman of the early rock era, Connie Francis, or the most influential artist on today’s Americana/alt-country, Patsy Cline (early influence maybe?). The nomination of Dolly Parton should end the “She’s too country” argument.
The inductees will be revealed in May; there is no date or place for the fall induction event yet, but it is heavily rumored to take place in Los Angeles.
Argue away.

Dolly Parton?!! That must be a mistake, right? She does not belong in the Rock Hall.

If Devo and the New York Dolls don’t eventually get into the Rock Hall, I’m resigning my lifetime membership. The Dolls personified rock & roll. Devo integrated the music with visual and conceptual art, and by the way was one of the great live acts I’ve ever seen. So if Dolly Parton, by all indications a lovely woman, gets into the hall, and Devo doesn’t, I’M OUT.

They should all inducted, music (and beauty) are in the eye (and ear) of the beholder and they all have touched someone’s life
