Like all performing groups, northeast Ohio’s Verb Ballets and Blue Water Chamber Orchestra found the commencement of their 2020-21 seasons derailed by the pandemic. But creatives gotta create, so the two ensembles have collaborated on a virtual evening called Broken Bridges Together, filmed specifically with online viewing in mind. They promise a “visual cinematic experience, providing an intimate view from the vantage point of the artists unlike any stage performance.”
The evening will feature two collaborative performances: Adagio for Two Dancers, choreographed in 1973 for the Ohio Ballet by the legendary Heinz Poll, set to Albinoni’s Adagio, and Broken Bridges by former Verb dancer (now a freelance choreographer) Michael Escovedo, set to Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony. It’s a melancholy tribute to his late grandmother, who had mental illness and Alzheimer’s. The program also features a performance of Anton Webern’s 1899 Langsamer Satz by BlueWater.
Tickets are $26 for adults, $20 for seniors, $10 for students and children, and $50 for families Go here to buy them.
