Cleveland’s Well-Travelled Archie & the Bunkers Play a Hometown Show at the Grog Shop

Sat 9/3 @ 9PM

Local organ-and-drums duo Archie & the Bunkers perform original garage rock with the aplomb and musical sophistication of musicians whose roots and experience run deep. They play with the energy and vivid enthusiasm of youngsters, which is what they actually are. Drummer/vocalist Emmett and organist/vocalist Cullen are teenagers who are deadly seriously about what they do and deeply grounded in ’60s garage and ’70s punk.

The two avid music freaks launched the band as a professional unit three years ago, and since then have become familiar faces on the stages of Cleveland clubs, opening to acts like the Cynics, the Rezillos and Cheetah Chrome. But wait — there’s more! They’ve released a debut album on England’s Dirty Water Records, played Columbus, Detroit and Las Vegas, and, this past May, headed overseas to do a European tour. They have their parents’ full support and are home-schooled so they can follow where their music leads. THAT’s how serious they are.

They’ll be headlining a show at the Grog Shop with the Spectres and Wesley Who also on the bill. Admission is $8.
