Apollo’s Fire Performs Popular Program Before Leaving for Europe

Fri 4/7 & Sat 4/8 @ 7:30PM

In case you haven’t heard, Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s baroque chamber orchestra, is packing their suitcases and will soon be boarding a lane for Europe, where they’ll be performing several programs, including the new Exile & Resilience: Music of the Jewish & African Diasporas, created by AF founder and artistic director Jeannette Sorrell. They premiered it here in northeast Ohio a few weeks ago.

But before they go they’ve got two more farewell concerts where they’ll play a familiar, beloved program, Four Seasons Rediscovered. In that program they put Antonio Vivaldi’s beloved work in the context of some of his other pieces, such as Concerto for Two Cellos, featuring cellists René Schiffer & Rebecca Landell Reed, and his La Folia (“Madness”), starring violinists Alan Choo and Emi Tanabe. Francesco Fullana is also featured on violin as Sorrell leads her ensemble off into the sunrise.

“Join us for this festive send-off as our musicians warm up for our European tour,” they say. “Or better yet, plan to come with us! London (UK), Heidelberg (Germany), and more…!” Don’t you wish!

They’ll perform at the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River on Friday April 7 and Chagrin Falls’ Federated Church on Saturday April 8.
