No Exit New Music is committing to fueling the flow of new music, working directly with rising composers to commission new works, often combining them with cutting-edge modern composers who served as their inspirations.
Their next program is all about new work. It’s hosting Boston-based marimba/bass clarinet duo Transient Canvas, who have been doing an online residency with composition students at Cleveland State University, Kent State University and Baldwin Wallace University to develop new work.
For this concert, Transient Canvas as they perform half a dozen works that have resulted from that residency. They include “Unknown Mysterium” by Demarre M. Evans; “Jamie’s Lullaby” by Veronica Cator; “the straits” by Alicia Marie; “Two Atmospheres” by Dana Westfield; “Wood Bark” by Noah Taylor; and “do ur thnng” by Joshua Arkangel.
The online concert, like the in-person concerts No Exit hosts when there’s no pandemic, are free and open to all. Here are some ways to listen:
