Fri 9/7-Sun 9/30
Ensemble Theatre launches its 2018-2019 season, dubbed ‘The Future Is Bright,” with Kenneth Jones’ Alabama Story.
It hinges on a children’s book in which a black rabbit marries a white rabbit, a “hidden message” which of course stirs up trouble in segregationist Montgomery, Alabama in 1959. It runs parallel with a story of two childhood friends — one a black man, one a white woman — reunited in Montgomery that year. With the resurgence in open racism in the U.S. in the past several years, it should be a thought- and discussion-provoking production.
It runs Fridays and Saturdays @ 8pm an Sundays at 2pm through Sun 9/30. Tickets are $12-$29.
