Fri 8/20 @ 5-9PM
78th Street Studios’ Third Fridays are nearly back to normal, with full hours, food and drink available, live music and almost every business, gallery and studio now open.
Blues guitarist Colin John will be playing his Hawainnan steel guitar music in the first floor smARTspace, while Carrie King will be playing French café songs on accordion. And Andrea Doe and Raja Belle Freeman will be doing poetry readings on the RAMP level. The Northcoast Promotions events on both the RAMP level and smARTspace are growing back to their pre-pandemic size, with more vendors.
Of course, there’s a lot of art to check out. Be sure to stop at Current in the former Tregoning Gallery space at the front of the building to catch Mouse House Party, which includes small, mousehole-shaped works by more than 150 local artists. This will be your last chance to see Strange and Lonely Spaces: Magic Realism in Cleveland 1930-1960 at ARTneo; the show closes after tonight. Gallery + is also hosting a closing for Solar Effects: Forest City, while E11even2 Gallery next door is opening The Smol Show and the Eric Rippert Studio debuts Be Honest, featuring the work of Jeffery Equality Brooks.
Gordon Square sandwich shop Local West, two blocks from 78th Street Studios, will be serving food, while BARneo will be offering beer and wine. And Forgotten Fruits Ice Cream will be setup in the parking lot by the main entrance serving artisanal ice cream.
A few pandemic changes remain: masks are advised and there’s still a $5 charge at the door. They’ll also again be monitoring the size of the crowd and reservations are recommended.
