Artists and craftspeople who focus on handmade and custom items are always looking for ways to connect with potential buyers. Some may place their items for sale in small boutiques, while many rely on the art/craft shows and specialty markets which pack the summer and holiday seasons.
Local entrepreneur Ash O’Connor says that during the holidays she was looking for ways to find artists and makers who sold quality custom items but weren’t set up to do the markets circuit. That led her to launch her e-commerce market place MadeCleveland, which makes its timely debut this week on Saturday May 23.
“You’ll be able to browse and support some of Cleveland’s finest makers, movers, and shakers,” she says. “Made Cleveland’s mission is to give you access to local artists year-round for any occasion (or non-occasion) while giving them the visibility needed to support their art.”
They’ll be hosting a contest to celebrate the site launch, awarding $200 gift certificates. You can learn about some of the vendors on their Facebook page.
