Fri 2/10 @ 8PM
Akron-based songwriter/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Angie Haze is one of northeast Ohio’s most intriguing — and had to describe — performers. Her rhythm-heavy global folk rock is enhanced by her distinctive sense of style, and her songs vibrate with a confessional, open-hearted passion that leaves nothing on the table.
Her Angie Haze Project has taken many forms and engaged many other musicians over time and virtually every instrument, providing a huge range of sonic textures. “Eclectic” is an overused word, but it barely begins to describe what Haze does. She’s used the pandemic years productively to release multiple EPs and dozens of videos telling her life story under the title May My Stories Be Worn Like My Coats. And her coats can be pretty extravagant!
She’ll be returning to the Akron Civic Theatre’s intimate Knight Stage where she’ll share the bill with Akron hip hop duo Free Black!, which features rapper/producer Floco Torres and drummer/producer HR3, creating music that draws on hip hop’s rich history to make music for today.
Tickets are $20; go to akroncivic.com or call 330-253-2488.
