Apollo’s Fire’s Baroque Bistros Offer a Sample of Their “Sugarloaf Mountain” Program

Fri 12/20 @ 8:30PM

Sat 12/21 @ 5PM

Sun 12/22 @ 12:15PM

Apollo’s Fire’s Baroque Bistros are stripped-down, bite-sized version of its regular concerts, intended to give new listeners a taste of what the ensemble does.

The upcoming series of casual, 75-minute performances feature highlights from the group’s popular Christmas on Sugarloaf Mountain program, which features Celtic-Appalachian music, demonstrating how the two are connected. The program features soprano Amanda Powell and Brian Kay on plucked instruments, joined by violinist Emi Tanabe, hammered dulcimer player Tina Bergmann and cellist Rene Schiffer.

They have five performances, although Thu 12/19 at Mustard Seed Market in Montrose is sold out, as is the early show at Nighttown Fri 12/20. But there is a late show Fri 12/20 @ 8:30pm at Nighttown, as well as one at Crocker Park’s Market Square Sat 12/21 and the Music Box Supper Club Sun 12/22. Tickets for each show are $26, or $16 for Apollo’s Fire season subscribers. Food is available for purchase prior to the Nighttown and Music Box shows; plan to grab dinner after the Crocker Park show at one of the “lifestyle center’s” many restaurants.
