There are two chances to hear free opera outdoors in a single Sunday.
Cleveland Opera Theater brings its popular concert back to the historic Dunham Tavern in Midtown with top professional singers performing familiar selections from well-known operas. In addition to music, there’ll be kids’ art activities and — surprise! — food trucks. You can also bring a picnic basket if you prefer. Bring a chair or blanket too. Grounds open at 5; performance starts at 6:30pm.
Over on the other side of town at BAYarts, another of the area’s small opera companies, Great Lakes Light Opera, will perform “accessible opera for the seasoned to the novice.” They’re promising selections by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Floyd, and other familiar favorites to enjoy as you’re watching the sun set and the stars come out. Music runs from 7-9pm.
