Cuyahoga County Executive Candidates Appear at City Club Forum

Tue 9/20 @ 11:30AM

With current Cuyahoga County executive Armond Budish retiring, voters will choose a new leader for the community on November 8.

The two candidates are Democrat Chris Ronayne and Republican Lee Weingart. While neither has much of a track record in elected office — Weingart was briefly a county commissioner from 1995-97 and Ronayne has never held elected office — Ronayne has had extensive civic and political experience, as planning director and chief of staff in the Jane Campbell administration and 16 years heading University Circle Inc during University Circle’s period of major growth. Weingart has run a lobbyist firm for 20 years.

The two candidates will appear onstage together at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in a forum sponsored by the City Club., with Ideastream’s Rick Jackson moderating. If you’re a Cuyahoga County resident eligible to vote, you owe it to yourself, your family and friends to learn about the candidates: the county executive race may not be a “glamour” race, but the person elected will have significant influence over the quality of life in this area.

The forum will also be livestreamed starting at noon. You can also submit a question for the candidates here.
