The idea of going out on New Year’s Eve to a wild & crazy party, getting rip-roaring drunk and waking up the next morning in a stranger’s spare room has pretty much has its day, and NYE isn’t the big nightclubbing night it once was. (Fireworks, though…. Clevelanders can never get enough of!) Many people substituted dinner at a nice restaurant and getting home by midnight, but COVID changed that for lots of people.
You should still celebrate though, and Cleveland Independents, the consortium of locally owned eateries, will help. Its site now has a listing of restaurants that are open that night and/or offer a carryout option — something restaurants have expanded in the last two years — so you can dine on fine food at home.
You’ll also be helping local restaurants dependent on special events to make up for what the pandemic cost them — and we’d really like to see the local food scene thrive in 2022. (Another thing you can do is purchase its gift cards and The Deck — a deck of cards with $500 in offers. Nice Christmas presents for foodies!)
