Trombone Quartet Performs at University of Akron

Wed 10/19 @ 7:30PM

The Blue Ridge Trombone Quartet, formed in 2012, features four musicians coming together from far-flung places: Dr. Nathan Dishman of Iowa State University), Dr. Drew Leslie from Colorado State University, Dr. Cory Mixdorf from the University of Arkansas and Sean McGhee, a Cincinnati-based freelance trombonist and educator.

The chamber ensemble performs classics of the quartet repertoire, transposes organ, string, operetta and orchestra works for their own instrument, and commissions new works such as Anthony Barfield’s 2015 Horizon of the Aten and Jeff Cortazzo’s 2019 Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

The ensemble will be performing at the University of Akron’s Guzzetta Recital Hall. General admission is $12; students with ID are free. For more information, call 330-972-8301.
