If you’ve been needing a dose of art to lift your spirits during some of Cleveland’s dreariest days, you’re in luck. This week is Third Friday at 78th Street Studios, when you have four hours to browse four floors of lively, colorful, diverse and challenging art of all types in artist studios and galleries in addition to shops and a makers’ market offering clothing, crafts, vintage items, jewelry, edibles and more. It’s a great chance to stop in an artist studio to buy directly from the artist and talk with them about their work.
Stop in HEDGE Gallery to see monoprints by veteran artist Dale Goode, still producing fresh new work in his 70s. Visit sculptor Charmaine Spencer, one of the winners of FRONT international Triennial’s Futures Fellowships, on the top floor and drink in the grounded, organic vibe of her studio. Stop next door and see the work of resident artist Justin Brennan, currently taking over Survival Kit Gallery. Leave yourself plenty of time because that’s just the start of things to discover.
In addition, there’ll be musicians playing throughout the building to add to the festive atmosphere, food at the Local West sandwich shop and drinks available at BARneo on the RAMP level which supports the northeast Ohio art museum, ARTneo, also located on the RAMP level.
The event is free and open to all, including well-behaved children and leashed pets!
