While events have already been going on at Hale Farm & Village in Bath, the weekend of June 4 & 5 is the official opening weekend for the site, whose buildings and ground recreate life in Ohio in the 19th century.
This is a great opportunity to check out the historic sites, the gardens, the farm animals and the various artisan demonstrations that make Hale distinctive: spinning, blacksmithing, candle dipping and other crafts practiced back in 1840 out of necessity when you couldn’t just make a Target run when you discovered you needed something.
There’ll also be live performances throughout the village featuring themes revolving around the past, present and future of northeast Ohio, including a site-specific immersive piece by Shaker Heights-based Ajayi Dance called “Place in Time, There/Then,” which will be performed from noon-2:30pm. It’s all included with regular admission.
