Akron’s First Saturday Artwalk is the chance to pop into some galleries and small businesses in the Historic Arts District, meet artists, buy some of their work, chat with friends you run into while making the rounds, have a bite and a drink at one of the local eateries, breweries and wine bars.
Sadly, not now. But you can stay in touch with the artists and their projects during the virtual artwalk, which you’ll find on Summit Artspace’s social media. At 5:30pm, they’ll unveil two new virtual shows, the YOU-Topia Juried Art Exhibition for artists 15 and older and the YOU-topia Youth Challenge for younger artists, and juror Edith Wadkins will announce the winners live on Facebook.
Then hang out for mini demos, workshops and interviews with Summit Artspace’s artist tenants and Artwalk partners. Using the code MAyArtwalk2020, you can purchase artwork at a discount all weekend.
