Fri 10/14-Sun 10/23
Northeast Ohio’s Magical Theatre Company, which mounts professional productions for young audiences, is kicking off its season with the Ohio premiere of The Amazing Lemonade Girl.
The play by James DeVita is based on the 2004 book called Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand, a rhyming picture book written by Jay and Liz Scott about their daughter’s plan to sell lemonade and how it grew into a national movement to battle childhood cancer. It launched a charitable foundation that’s raised more than $250 million to fund more than 1,000 medical research projects.
Holly Barkdoll, who is directing Magical Theatre Company’s production, says, “Alex Scott’s goal of helping kids and hospitals ‘one cup at a time,’ truly illustrates a most important life lesson: We can always — and should always — do more to help others.” Each performance will feature a real lemonade with all proceeds donated to the foundation.
Public performances (the show also tours schools) run from Friday October 14 through Sunday October 23, Fridays @ 7:30pm, and Saturdays & Sundays @ 2pm at the Park Theatre in downtown Barberton
