Dance to Polkas and Waltzes All Day at SNPJ Farmfest

Joey Miskulin

Sat 7/10 @ 1-9PM

Nothing can sweep away the pandemic doldrums as well as a little polka music, a deeply rooted Cleveland tradition. And you can spend the whole day an evening out at the Slovenian SNPJ Farm in Kirtland at SNPJ Farmfest where the polkas and waltzes will be keeping the dance floor filled from 1-9pm.

Local ensemble the Jeff Pecon Orchestra kicks things off from 1-5pm with an all-star tribute to Cleveland legend, polka king Frankie Yankovic, who had two million-selling hits in the late 40s. Their special guests will include Brian O’Boyle, and Polka Hall of Famers Fred Kuhar and Joey Miskulin. Miskulin got his musical start playing in Yankovic’s band when he was a teenager and has had a thriving career as a Nashville session musician and sideman. Pecon too is carrying on a tradition — his father was the late Johnny Pecon, another of the area’s post-World War II polka greats. Bob Kravos and the Boys will keep things going from 5-9pm will more danceable music.

There’ll also be plenty of Slovenian food, such as smoked Slovenian sausage, oven-fried potatoes and “mile-high” grilled bologna sandwiches available for purchase.  Admission is $10; 18 and under are free. For more information, call 440-796-6203.
