One of Cleveland’s accomplished and prolific playwrights, Christopher Johnston, is back with a brand-new work called Selfies at the Clown Motel that will have its world premiere at the convergence-continuum theater, never a group to back off from venturing into the unknown. (It’s done several of his other plays).
The description of this yet-unseen work tells us, “Middle-aged Rob was a disheartened and despondent business consultant to circuses before he met Chloe, a pretty young clown who walks the high wire without a net, on one of his business trips. They had hit it off and agreed to hook up later at the Clown Motel, a run-down lodging out in the Nevada desert. Selfies at the Clown Motel tells the story of their surprising, very strange, very funny and oh so scary encounter among the clowns.”
Sounds like another of those surreal plays about odd relationships that c-c specializes in. c-c founder Clyde Simon directs a cast that includes John Busser, Leah Smith, Lauri Hammer, Jack Matuszewski and Gideon-Patrick Lorete. It runs Thu-Sat @ 8pm through Sat 9/17. Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors, $10 for students.
