New York-based jazz organist/pianist Brian Charette has performed frequently in northeast Ohio, although his show this weekend at BLU Jazz+ in Akron is his first visit here sine the pandemic shut things down.
The Hammond Organ-endorsed musician won the Downbeat magazine Critics Poll Rising Star: Organ award in 2014 and placed third in the 2021 Downbeat Critics Poll. He’s released 19 albums and has played with artists such as Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Chaka Khan and Cyndi Lauper.
He’ll be performing in Akron with a trio which also features Akron-based guitarist Dan Wilson and drummer Jordan Young. Admission is $18.
