Sat 8/10 @ 10AM-7PM
Suma Recording in Painesville is a bucolic, rustic location, noted for recording most of the critically beloved Pere Ubu’s albums, among many others. It was built by legendary Cleveland engineer/producer Ken Hamann, inherited by his son Paul, and purchased by another experienced Cleveland producer/engineer Michael Seifert following Paul Hamman’s death in 2017.
Suma will be hosting an audio/music flea market and open house on Saturday August 10, where they’ll be offering for sale surplus equipment they’ve had in storage, including instruments, mics, cables, speakers, furniture and more. Other vendors will be onsite as well. They’ll also be giving tours of the studio so this is a great chance for musicians to check it out. Food and drink will be available for purchase, and there’ll be musicians performing all day including Taylor Lamborn, Rachel Brown, Thor Platter, Tyler Smilo of Smilo & the Ghost, Elizabeth Bullock and Rick Spitalsky of Extra Medium Pony. After the event is over at 7pm there’ll be a jam session.
Admission is free. Go here for more info.
