Les Delices Launches a New Season of SalonEra Web Programs

Mon 10/9

When the pandemic struck and all performances were shut down, many people wrung their hands and wrote obituaries for small performance arts groups. Turned out not to be so. Many such groups turned challenge into opportunity to broaden their reach and their audiences.

One of those groups was baroque chamber ensemble Les Délices, which created its web series SalonEra, combining live and archives performances with commentary from artists and music historians, giving background on the selections.

The programs proved popular and now they’re going into their fourth season of episodes. The season kicks off October 9 with Celestial Soundtrack, guest curated by SalonEra Associate Producer Shelby Yamin. The program features Yak University Assistant Professor of Earth & Planetary Sciences Dr. Juan Lora, lutenist Charles Weaver, and cellist Léonie Adams of the Dionysus Ensemble. It looks at the October 14 solar eclipse as a symbol of people’s attempts to understand the universe through science and art.

The program will premiere on October 9th on the Les Delices YouTube channel, at salonera.org and on all major podcast platforms. Each episode streams free with a suggested donation of $15.  All will be available after their premiere date through June 30, 2024.
