Blank Canvas Theatre Stages Play Telling Peter Pan’s Origin Story

Fri 8/25-Sat 9/9

Rick Elice’s Peter and the Starcatcher debuted in 2009 and ran for nine months on Broadway in 2012. It’s one of those “origin story” plays, along the lines of Wicked, that purports to tell “what came before” a well-known story. In this case it’s a prequel to the Peter Pan story all of us are familiar with. It tells how the titular character emerged from an unhappy orphaned background to become the perennial child who led others to Never Never Land. In it a dozen actors play more than 100 characters.

Dobama mounted the play back in 2015 and 2016, and now Blank Canvas is taking to stab at it, opening this weekend and running through September 9 at its space in 78th Street Studios. It runs Thursdays-Saturdays @ 8pm and Sundays @ 7pm. Get tickets here.
