Sun 6/30 @ 5-9PM
This Sunday, Bootsy Collins, part of the legendary Parliament/Funkadelic collective of bands, and his wife Pepperminte Patti Collins, will be joining with the Cleveland-based Leo’s Casino Arts & Music Collaboratory (LCAMC), which honors Cleveland’s equally legendary club, Leo’s Casino, where every major R&B artist performed back in the 60s, to present Cleveland’s inaugural Funk Not Fight Love Fest.
Bootsy and Patti Collins launched their national Funk Not Fight Movement tour here in May, 2023 with the goal of addressing violence through music. Meanwhile, LCAMC has its own programs for young people to help divert their energies from conflict to art, music, writing and sports, among other things. When the Movement returns to Cleveland for the Love Fest, it will feature an evening of music from MC Delvis Valentine and live local artists The Crew, the Fulla Love Orchestra, Sparrows Fortune, the Bottom Line Band and Motown Magic. The event, which takes place at the Maltz Performing Arts Center, will benefit Leo’s Casino Arts and Music Collaboratory.
