CityMusic Cleveland chamber orchestra continues its 2021-22 season devoted to “Justice, Equality, Hope” with a pair of performances this weekend titled “Hidden Treasures.”
Three musicians — viola player Yael Senamaud-Cohen, oboist Justine Myers and pianist Elizabeth DeMio — will perform three works that are indeed “hidden,” since most classical music fans probably haven’t heard them.
They include “Deux Rhapsodies for Oboe, Viola and Piano,” by German-born American composer Charles Martin Loeffler (1861-1935); Five Schilflieder (Song of the Reeds) by another German, August Klughardt (1847-1902); and a world premiere by Daixuan Ai, a pianist/composer currently working on her master’s degree at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, commissioned by CityMusic Cleveland.
They’ll perform Friday at Lakewood Congregational Church and Saturday at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus in Slavic Village. As always, CityMusic Cleveland performances are free and open to all.
