The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival wrapped up the first production of its 26th season — the comedy As You Like It — on July 9, and has now opened, the so-called “problem play” with both comedic and serious elements, Measure for Measure.
CSF brings free performances to parks and other open outdoor spaces across the region, as they’ve been expanding their turf. Friday and Saturday performances start at 7pm; Sunday’s start at 4pm. The company’s scripts are edited to be finished by dark since it travels light, without scenery or lighting equipment: the actors’ performances are everything. Bring a blanket or chair and a picnic and make the most of a summer evening.
They’re at Euclid’s Sims Park Friday July 29; at the James A. Garfield Historic Site in Mentor Saturday July 29; and Shaker Heights’ Van Aken Market Sunday July 30.

for poetry expresses the universal,
and history only the particular
