For 12 years, the Crooked River Groove/World & Music cable TV programs were taped at Tri-C’s metro campus as part of the Recording Arts & Technology (RAT) program. From 2001-2013, the 400-plus shows featured more than 200 mostly local acts while teaching students production techniques. Overseeing them was Tommy Wiggins who headed the RAT program until he moved to Nashville in 2012.
The Crooked Groove Reunion at the Beachland Ballroom will reunite Wiggins with some of his former students and musicians who appeared on the program. Wiggins will perform with the CRG All-Stars. He’ll be joined by a cast of local musicians in all genres including Carlos Jones, Xela, Hillbilly IDOL, Brent Kirby, Pfatty Banks Crew, Zach Freidhof, Rachel Brown & the Beatnik Playboys, Robert W. “JoJo” Hill & JMG, Big Ship, Tracy Marie & friends, Maddie Finn’s Whiskey Hollow, Kitschy and the Tri-C Vintage Rock Band.
Admission is a $10 donation to the Tri-C RAT student scholarship fund — or more if you’re feeling generous.
